A person infected with covid-19 can spread it during incubation period

The Health Board said that according to a recent WHO assessment, coronavirus is generally infectious in the presence of symptoms, but according to one study, an infected person can transmit the virus a day before his or her symptoms appear this mean coronavirus spreads during its incubation period.

In most cases, the incubation period for the disease is 5-6 days, but the virus is detectable in respiratory system samples 1-2 days before and up to 37 days after onset of symptoms. Here it is important to note that virus detection is doesn’t mean that it is instantly infectious. Usually, the disease is infectious in the presence of symptoms, but knowledge is still limited. Patients infect an average of 2-3 people.

Following the WHO’s decision to declare a coronavirus pandemic and the fact that the virus is spreading to all EU countries today, the Health Authority has assessed the risk of limited spread of the coronavirus locally as high. Children and pregnant women are infected just like others, but children generally have mild symptoms and pregnant women have disease symptoms similar to others.

Older people and people with chronic illnesses, who are more likely to have severe forms of disease, are at risk.
