Non-allergic asthma

Symptoms:

  • feeling hot;
  • fever;
  • difficulty in breathing;
  • shortness of breath (dyspnea);
  • wheezing;
  • thick yellow sticky sputum that is difficult to cough;
  • asthma attack;

Causes:

In asthma, there is always one factor that causes it – the mucus. The main cause of mucus is inappropriate diet. By consuming too much cold food and drink, we drain the spleen qi, one of the functions of which is to process and transport moisture to the body. When the spleen is weak, moisture begins to accumulate in the body. One organ that is very sensitive to moisture is the lungs – moisture and mucus block the energy of the lungs and cause breathing difficulties and asthma.

Treatment:

Process and remove mucus from the body and ensure the free movement of  energy in the lungs.
The effectiveness of the treatment depends to a large extent on changing eating habits – if we bring moisture and mucus into the body on a daily basis, there is no benefit from effective treatment.

Nutrition suggestions:

Avoid all foods that bring too much moisture and mucus into the body, especially dairy products, temperature-cold drinks and meals and definitely sweet foods (with refined sugar). Fatty meats or oily fried foods are also sources of moisture and mucus. As this is mucus and heat, care should be taken with foods that are too hot and spicy, as they bring heat into the body.

Use hot food that is easy for the spleen energy to digest. Also suitable are slightly spicy foods (excessive spiciness brings too hot; low spiciness tones the lungs), steamed, stewed and cooked foods, pear, mandarin peel, dandelion, mung bean, radish and job’s tears.

To reduce heat in your body eat apple, pear, seaweed, watercress, Chinese cabbage, asparagus, radish, mint and chrysanthemum tea.

To strengthen the spleen eat poultry, beef, fennel, carrots, sweet potatoes, millet, rice, anise.
