What is the best time to wake up?

Chinese people have lived centuries by their own understanding of life and are one of the most long-lived nations in the world. Here’s an old Chinese day plan – what time which activities should be done. The right beginning of the day is given by waking up at the best possible time – with sunrise.

The beginning of the day

At 5 am – 7 am when Sun rises. It is the best time to wake up. This is the time our colon becomes active. According to China traditional medicine, the large intestine separates the good from the bad in our body. It is wise to wake up with the sun and as the first thing go to the toilet. The Chinese believe that if nothing comes out of you in the morning, we can’t distinguish between good and bad during the day and thus make wrong decisions. This is because of the toxins that eliminate back to our body.

The first thing to do when you wake up in the morning is to drink a glass of warm water with half squeezed lemon and honey – this drink stimulates the gut.

This is the time of the day when parks in China fill up with people doing different exercises.

At 7 am – 9 am the stomach is activated and therefore this is the right time to eat the most effective meal of the day. It is allowed to eat even chocolate, you won’t get fat. In the West, many people have a bad habit of drinking only coffee in the morning and getting right to work after that. This is considered bad for the stomach. Stomach wants to work, but there is not enough material to work with. This can lead to many digestive problems as the acid attacks stomach walls therefore gastric ulcers may evolve.

At 9 am – 11 am the spleen is activated. The spleen is related to thinking and learning. The stomach and the spleen are closely related –  if you do not fill your stomach between 7am and 9am, the brainwork will be hampered in the following hours.

At noon, do not rush

At 11 am – 1 pm is the heart activity time. At this time, it is not good to do physical work nor active sports.

Statistically, during this period of time, people have the most cardiac problems. Especially those who have been diagnosed with chronic heart disease or have a heart stimulator installed.

At 1 pm – 3 pm is the small intestine activation time. The small intestine is a sensitive organ and contributes to the food digestion. At this time, it would be wise to take another meal of the day. In the old times, Chinese used to eat the last meal of the day, walked hundred steps and fell asleep.

At 3 pm to 5 pm the bladder is activated. It is time again to expel toxins from your body. Toxins gather into the body when the right day rhythm is disrupted or wrong or food full of pesticides is eaten.

Right eating during day

Chinese medicine does not dictate exactly what to eat, but it is always about quantities. According to Chinese medicine, salt affects our bones and sweet affects our blood. Unfortunately, the best for our health is to eat tasteless food. If you are sick, it is better to avoid eating at all. In China and in the West, our grandmothers have always wanted to cook chicken soup for a sick child. Chicken soup has benefits if you’re just weak and exhausted, not sick.

It is advised to drink tea at the time you are sick. It was the Portuguese people from India who brought the tradition of 5 o’clock afternoon tea to England. Tea acts as a diuretic and helps to eliminate toxins.

Calmly into the evening

At 5 pm to 7 pm is the kidney activity time. During this time, it is good to do physical exercises. At the same time, Chinese wisdom warns against excessive sweating, which allows cold access to your body. You need to protect your kidneys because they are afraid of the cold. If a young person’s body is uncovered in the kidney area, or “belly button t-shirts” is worn, the cold will go deep into the body and its harm may be revealed years later.

During early evening, it is useful to exercise to keep and gather our so-called vital essence that we get when we are born. Qigong or yoga are useful because the Chinese believe that sweating also wastes our life essence.

At 7 pm to 9 pm time of the heart activity. A connection is made between the heart and other organs. It is a quiet, intellectual time to sum up your day. This is the time when we should not eat too much anymore because it is the opposite of your stomach activity. It would be good to eat soup or steamed vegetables.

Best time to go to sleep

At 9 pm to 11 pm triple warmer meridian activates. During this period you should go to sleep. Before that, make some relaxing activities. If you go to bed before 11 pm in the evening, you will have a restful sleep. If we do not sleep between 11 pm and 1 am, we will be uncertain and indecisive in the morning.

At 11 pm – 1 am the gallbladder is activated. A restless sleep at night signals the disorders in our body. If you wake up between 11 pm and 1 am at night, you may have a problem with your gallbladder.

At 1 am – 3 am is the liver activation time. If restless sleep occurs at 1 am, it may be due to liver problems. Maybe you’ve eaten junk food during the day?

At 3 am – 5 am the lungs become active. Waking up at this time shows you may have some problems with lungs.

However, 70% of the causes of restless sleep indicate emotional problems such as stress.
